
Born in Pennsylvania, Emma Dell grew up in an Old Order Amish family, one of ten children. At age 17 she became an Amish school teacher.
From a young age, Emma questioned the strict codes of the Amish belief and at age 19, made a daring escape from her parent’s farm on horseback, despite a painful betrayal by a family member who had promised to allow her to leave.
After coming out into the world, Emma experienced great challenges. She faced them head on and always continued to move forward in her life.
She attended Ivy Tech College in Madison, Indiana and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse.
Emma has two beautiful daughters, Marilynn and Brooke, and a grand daughter, Alexis. She currently lives in Austin, Texas where she works as a nurse.
